Dr. Renjith P. Johnson

After obtaining MSc degree in Chemistry from Bharathidasan University, Renjith received his Ph.D in polymer science and engineering from Pusan National University, Republic of Korea under the guidance of Professor Il Kim with thesis titled "Biocompatible stimuli-responsive synthetic polymer-block-polypeptide hybrid materials for the intracellular delivery of gene and anticancer agents"-(2009-2014). Dr. Renjith did his postdoctoral researches in Pusan National University and University of South Carolina, United states prior to joining as Assistant Professor at Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore.

Ph.D Students

Ms. Namitha K. Preman (SRF)

     Namitha received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Kannur University, and completed her master’s degree in biopolymer science from Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). During her Masters project in Defence Food Research Laboratory (DFRL), Namitha worked on the development and evaluation of edible cutleries based on natural polymers. She participated in a national workshop on Advances in polymeric materials (APM 2015) held at CIPET Ahmedabad, Gujarat. She presented a poster titled "Biopolymers in controlled drug delivery" on INFUCE TECH FEST held at MG University College of engineering, Thodupuzha, Kerala.

      At PNRL, Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), she joined in April 2017, involved in development of stimuli-responsive hydrogels/ nanogels and  polymeric prodrugs, which are  applicable in various biomedical domains.

 

Ms. Supriya Jain (SRF)

        Supriya Jain received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry, botany and zoology from Alva’s College, Moodbidri (Mangalore University) and Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangalore. During Master’s, she had completed the project work "Synthesis of micronutrients and their analysis" from  BASF, Surathkal. She had participated in an International conference on ‘Green chemistry and Nanotechnology, opportunities and Challenges’ at St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), in 2017.

    At PNRL, Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), she joined in Dec 2018, and involved in the development of conducting polymer based materials for various biomedical applications.

 

Mr. Sandesh G.S (SRF)

        Sandesh received his bachelor’s degree in chemistry, botany, and biotechnology from SDM college Ujire (Mangalore University) and Master’s degree in chemistry from St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangalore. During his Master's, he had completed a project work titled “Beer processing and analysis” from United Breweries Limited, Baikampady Mangalore. He had participated in an international conference on “Green chemistry and Nanotechnology- opportunities and challenges” at St. Aloysius College and in other National Seminars. He also had worked as a faculty for JEE, NEET, CET coaching, and other competitive exams in various institutes.

      At PNRL, Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), he joined in Aug 2020, and involved in the development of novel stimuli-responsive block copolymers and polymer gels for drug delivery and Tissue engineering applications.

Ms. Dhanya M (JRF)

           Dhanya received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from St. Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore. During her Masters, she had completed a project on “Synthesis and Analysis of Micronutrients”, in the department of Quality Assurance at BASF India Ltd, Surathkal, Karnataka. She had participated in an International Conference on “Green Chemistry and Nanotechnology, opportunities and Challenges” at St Aloysius College (Autonomous). From January 2019 to October 2021, she had worked as a quality control executive in the Small molecule API division of Biocon Limited.

     At PNRL, Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), she joined in Oct 2021, and involved in the development of polymeric nanoformulations for drug and vaccine delivery applications.

Ms. Pratima Prakash Parulekar (JRF)

           Pratima completed her B.Tech. in Biotechnology Engineering from KIT's College of Engineering (Autonomous), Kolhapur, Maharashtra. After qualifying GATE XL, she completed M.Tech. in Biomedical Engineering from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, West Bengal. Her  M.Tech. thesis topic was 'Biodegradable conducting polymer composite scaffold for Wound Healing applications'. During B.Tech., she involved in collaborative work with department of stem cells and regenerative medicine, D Y Patil Education Society Kolhapur, and  also worked as a biomedical intern at Aster Aadhar hospital Kolhapur.

         At PNRL, Yenepoya Research Centre, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), she joined in Feb 2024 as ICMR-JRF, and involved in the development of novel conducting polymers-based biomaterials for tissue engineering applications.
